A few Words on Professionalism

In our time there is a strong hope for a better world - and there are many ways to work on improving the conditions of humanity and life on Earth. A love and yearning for peace, dignity and healing lives in every human soul and can find expression in many wonderful ways.

One way to improve our lives is to find a open, careful, considerate basis for our working. It takes courage and self-improvement and the will to help to find such a path. Professionalism is usually thought of as a "business thing." However, it can also mean simply a way of working that is open, careful, considerate.

So much of what we do and what we also need from others is bound up with and considerably dependent on professionalism. The term professional or professionalism has many definitions. Some are old, some new. A few general understandings are held across boarders and between cultures. A few of these common definitions include:

- excellent training (for example of vocational, artistic, therapeutic or academic nature),
- specialized abilities and knowledge, serving a strong base of understanding,
- considerable experience,
- a high quality of work and work ethic,
- a high level of moral and social motivation and
- substantial abilities to listen deeply to others,
- think independently, fairly and with other perspectives than only one's own,
- communicate effectively and patiently,
- work in teams for common goals, as well as
- being transparent, open-minded, self-critical and welcoming of outside criticism.

Such qualities can enormously enhance our hopes for a better world, serving as a kind of foundation for working together. A general lack of professionalism in this sense is an incredible hinderance to our civilization and for cultural development world wide.

In the following webpages, every effort is made to bring you open, honest, well researched information, quotes, resources, experiences and insights. All the courses we offer are intended to be as professional in this way as possible and to encourage everyone to seek their own path towards professionalism.

Naturally, mistakes occur and this is normal, natural and part of our learning. In terms of this website, I would request your patience and feedback - and I wish you all the best on your journey. Thank you.
