Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925) was an unusually gifted teacher, philosopher, artist, scientist and clairvoyant. His skills as a natural scientist, literary critic, public speaker and founder of many, practical initiatives are legendary. Waldorf education, anthroposophical medicine, associative economics, biodynamic agriculture - are all efforts Steiner made or help to initiate to improve the condition of individuals and humanity. The author of almost 30 books and a prolific public speaker, Steiner's written works include the transcription of over 6000 lectures on themes from world history to pharmacology, economics and, noteably in our case, agriculture.

In 1924, upon the request of numerous professional farmers and gardeners, Steiner offered a series of lectures and question and answer sessions entitled "Spiritual Scientific Fundamentals for the Well-Being of Agriculture" best known as simply: "The Agriculture Course." Held at the farming estates of Count and Countess Keyserlingk, Steiner's weeklong effort, spawned a worldwide movement that pre-dated the organic movement by a couple decades and agro-ecology by over 50 years. His insights, ideas and suggestions for the renewal of agriculture inspired thousands of practitioners and continue to offer substance and guidance to new generations of professional and hobby farmers and gardeners alike. His unique spiritual approach to ecological questions forms the basis of a highly effective, remarkable flexible and adaptable system of re-envigorating soils and establishing a high level of health and productivity in crops and animals.

Best known for his development of the Waldorf School movement, Steiner was also a serious philosopher whose "Philosophy of Freedom" outlines his beliefs in the enormous significance and potential of ethical individualism and the role that each one of us can take on through independent initiative to improve our world. He was an anti-dogmatist and believed in "ethical individualism" as a modern philosophy for truly democratic societies.

In the coming weeks and months, I will post additional information and links for your reading and study... Thanks for your patience and come back soon...
