"Ecological agriculture is the mainstream, modern environmental movement for the renewal of agriculture and nutrition - and includes several schools of thought and practice. Biodynamics was historically, the pioneering initiative of this modern environmental movement. It is, however, much more than just an impulse for renewing agriculture and nutrition ecologically. It is a true holistic and complimentary system of medicine for agriculture, for each unique farm, based on an understanding of nature that is both scientific and spiritual - and in this sense, it is anthroposophical agriculture." Dr. Andrew Christopher Lorand

Welcome to my NEW homepage. It is about creating healthy, clean, safe, ecologically produced and spiritually energized foods. It is also, indeed mostly, about biodynamic agriculture as a path of farming and gardening, as anthroposophical agriculture

Biodynamics is both practical and philosophical - and understanding the philosophy allows you to use the practical methods in effective, adaptable and authentic ways.

The philosophy informs the practice, that otherwise can remain a tapping in the dark, merely a method without deeper meaning. The philosophy helps us understand, even sense and experience the spiritual in nature, ourselves and the universe.

Founded by Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925) through conversations, experiments, and correspondences leading up to and including his "Agriculture Course" in 1924, "biodynamics" was considered and referred to as Anthroposophical Agriculture.

Engendering understanding of the meaning behind this term: "Anthroposophical Agriculture" and its significance for professional biodynamics - is the main purpose of this website.

Doing something, just because someone says so, is not enough. It leaves you uniformed and unfree. Seeking a real understanding of why leads to a whole world of how, when and what. Know why and you are freer. Of course, life is complex and there are no one-sided or for-sure answers. Just seeking, however, to understand the philosophy of biodynamics will give you so much more independence, opportunity and joy - AND success in your daily gardening and farming.

There will be pages on related topics, such as agroecology and deep ecology - organics and permaculture and there will be more about yet other topics to come, as I rebuild the renew the website. There will be pages on practical experience, on how-to, for example pages on composting or using herbal foliar sprays and so on. There will also be pages on the inner development of farmers and gardeners, about such topics as meditation, enhanced observation and other ways of experiencing more of all that nature truly is. Last, but not least, there will also be pages on Rudolf Steiner, the inaugurator of biodynamics, his philosophy and spiritual science.

Not all pages (old and new) are complete yet, some will need updating and new ones will appear sooner or later, from time to time. I wish you well on your journey.

Sincerely,
Andrew
